Introduction
Greenhouse gases are essential for life on Earth. The excessive release of these gases, especially since the Industrial Revolution, has driven climate change.
International agreements such as the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement encourage countries to reduce GHG emissions. GHG accounting and reporting has become common practice: some organisations report their carbon footprint voluntarily or to take part in carbon markets, others to comply with regulation and carbon pricing (EU ETS, EU CBAM, UK CBAM), or to certify green products such as renewable fuels of non-biological origin (RFNBOs) under the EU Renewable Energy Directive.
The programme covers methodologies, standards, implementation, verification and validation of GHG data, and how to report GHG emissions at corporate, project and product level.
