The dates that set the pace

What the definitive regime already requires.

1 Jan 2026The definitive regime applies. EU importers of more than 50 tonnes of CBAM goods a year must hold authorised CBAM declarant status — Regulation (EU) 2023/956, as amended by Regulation (EU) 2025/2083.
1 Feb 2027Sale of CBAM certificates begins, covering embedded emissions in goods imported during 2026. The cost lands on your customer, and it is calculated from your data.
30 Sep 2027Deadline for the first annual CBAM declaration, covering the 2026 import year. Declared actual emissions must carry an accredited verifier's conclusion.

Where actual embedded emissions are declared instead of default values, verification must be performed by a verifier accredited for CBAM activities by an EU national accreditation body — Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/2546 and Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2025/2551. Energy Up International LLC is an accredited validation and verification body under ISO/IEC 17029:2019, ISO 14065:2020, ISO 14066:2023 and ISO 14064-3:2019, and its EU CBAM verifier accreditation application has been accepted by ACCREDIA and is under assessment.

Separation of roles. The consultation and any data preparation are delivered by Extreme Energy Solutions, the group's advisory entity. Independent validation and verification is performed by a separate body that takes no part in preparing the data it examines.
